G.A.I.M. ENGINEERING AWARDED SECOND ILLINOIS
MODERNIZATION IMPLEMENTATION PROJECT (MIP) GRANT
FROM D.C.C.A. SPRINGFIELD, IL. , FOR YEAR 2001
Bensenville, Ill (December 6, 2001) Located in Chicago’s western suburbs within the Greater O’hare Field Industrial Park, has just received it’s second Capitalization Grant to increase it’s current position in Recycling Thermoplastic’s of both post industrial and consumer scrap supplies that potentially could be land filled.
G.A.I.M. Engineering Inc. is an 11-year-old injection molding company that creates products from what is held to be a valuable resource, “SCRAP RESINS”. With support by the State of Illinois Bureau of Energy and Recycling G.A.I.M . purchases scrap plastic parts, flakes, pellets then dry blends to compound this matrix, adding modifiers and color to create durable goods. Products that range from automotive, pest control, toys, furniture to professional decorating tools and turnstile systems used in mass transit all made of 100% recycled content!
“We make product that must last, classifying our projects as durables”, says Skip Glatt President. Creativity allows them to stand in front alone, by taking the business to the client. Funding for capital equipment from the state, allows their cash to be channeled into R&D, mold investment, marketing and densifying three building.
Historically, the help from the state has allowed G.A.I.M. to purchase additional robotics, larger molding equipment, material handling and equipment for pretreatment. Having received their first grant Nov. 2000, material consumption levels per quarter are up to 208,000 versus 112,000 pounds.
D.C.C.A.’s second grant to G.A.I.M. , will be 90% funded by year end. Grants are issued for capital equipment such as to up grade water process equipment, add downstream conveyors, large grinders, blowers, metal detection equipment and additional processing aids. All equipment will be on line within six months and commands the latest state of the art technology to compliment their fifteen late model injection molders assisted by seven 24/7 robots.
Economic conditions have slowed but not hurt the firm due to diversification, and abilities to market it’s own products such as TOTASAK, retail/grocery bag carriers commanding 78% of that market category.
